Kristen Seghete, PhD, PMH-C

I am committed to emotionally supporting women in their journey from fertility to pregnancy to postpartum to parenting. My expertise includes certification in perinatal mental health (PMH-C) and two decades of experience working with women, birthing people, and parents.

My approach to therapy is focused on building skills to reduce depression and anxiety, better regulate your emotions, process trauma, and engage in life the way you want to. I look at how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. My approach often includes mindfulness, or being aware in the present moment, and practicing self-compassion.

All of my work is conducted through a trauma-informed and collaborative lens, meaning your lived experience shapes our relationship and therapy goals.

I have expertise in the following:

  • Prenatal and postpartum depression (and other mood disorders)

  • Prenatal and postpartum anxiety

  • Birth and NICU trauma

  • Perinatal and neonatal loss

  • Fertility challenges

  • Maternal-infant bonding

  • Parenting stress

  • Childhood trauma

  • Assessment for mental health disorders and neurodivergence

I am also an Associate Professor at OHSU, where I conduct research on perinatal mental health interventions and train clinical psychology students. Click here for a list of my published research.
